OM4 multimode 50/125μm multimode fiber is a gradual change multimode fiber with a core diameter of 50μm and a cladding diameter of 125μm. It is further optimized for VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser) at 850nm on the basis of OM3 fiber, and can support 10GBase-SR to 550 meters, and support 40GBase-SR4 and 100GBase-SR10 to 150 meters. Compared with OM3 fiber, OM4 can support 40G/100G transmission distance by 50%, so it is considered to be a more suitable multimode cable type to support 40G/100G transmission. OM4 multimode fiber is suitable for a variety of optical cable structures, including fiber ribbon cable, loose-sheathed twisted cable, skeleton cable, center-bundle cable and tight-sheathed cable. Optical fibers are compatible with fibers produced by other processes in use.
